We are now staying in LaGrange, GA at 3 Creeks Entertainment Campground(http://www.3creeksentertainment.net/). Randy's working this week in Valley AL about 17 miles from here. The boys are enjoying the campground. There is a roller skating rink, playground, catfish pond and a water slide set to open later this week. They even got Mom up on roller blades!!! Proof that Amazing things do still happen. (No pictures but lots of laughs, especially when I "gracefully" deposited my bum on the floor when getting up from the bench where Randy was sitting!! Oh the memories ... sore muscles ... bruises ... ) Malachi & Josiah spent some hard earned money on new bikes as their old ones were worn out. Josiah got a 2-shifter and Malachi got a single shifter. Once we got them home and all fine tuned they were off riding the hills of the campground. Needless to say within 30 minutes Josiah was rushing to our home to let us know Malachi had an "awesome wreck ... but he's hurt". It must have been some wreck as he broke the light on the front of the bike, knocked the seat out of position, tore the back of the seat and I'm not sure what else to the bike. He has a pretty impressive road burn on his right elbow and arm as well as his right knee with bruises showing up today. He also hurt his left arm ... which didn't have any markings or major dirt as did the rest of his body ... and it looks like we will have to see about getting it x-rayed as it's still really causing pain today too. Oh the life of being a boy!! Mom's moving slow today as the roller blading caused muscles to scream of their existence along with the lack of sleep from sleeping on the coach with Malachi & him not resting well due to the pain. Even though the boys kept telling me that I'm "not too old" for this while we were skating ... I'm definitely feeling it today and thinking otherwise. I just love being a MOM!! WARNING: I may need to be reminded of this at times ... Ha!

Coca Cola Science Space Museum

I took the boys to the Space Museum before we left Columbus. What a neat space museum. We got to do a lot of hands-on and learned so much. They had fun with the weather TV as their wrists disappeared where the green wristbands they wear are and Malachi's shorts disappeared because they were camo. The Shuttle landing on the moon was a bit of a touch and go. Josiah did pretty decent but Malachi was definitely a pro at crash and burns. I think their favorite part was getting to fly the fighter plane simulators. I made the mistake of doing one with them as they are linked so you can see each other on the radar screens. Let me tell you … a flight simulator is not the place for someone who gets motion sick. I was very green after my disastrous attempt of flying … didn’t even find my mission bogey point! The man that checked us in was running the gift shop was very concerned about how green I was looking. He agreed that it was a BIG MISTAKE for me to have gotten in to one of those. We went in and watched a movie in their IMAX screen about the planets but I still wasn’t ready to drive so they allowed us to stay after closing time until I was safe to drive. The people in Georgia have been very friendly thus far … even if you are green!

Lake Pines Campground

Nice campground. Great, friendly, helpful management. Love the laundry facility. Room to sit and work on things while doing laundry or by pool so can swim between loads. Nice folding/hanging area. Pool has a side section for little waders (old or young) besides the main area for laps/playing. Bathhouse is nice and clean. Playground is great for all age kids. Ours spent a lot of time here. Nature trails. Lots of photo opportunities. Great set up with event centers for weddings, reunions, outdoor concerts, rallys, etc. Close to Wal-Mart and other stores. Near train tracks but trains didn’t bother our family at all. Would definitely stay here whenever in the area.

Refuge Skate Park

Refuge Skate Park … Malachi’s new home away from home.  It’s a little skate park behind a church but most of the skaters are really nice and helpful in giving tips to new skaters.  There Tuesday night pre-skate Bible Studies were quite interesting too.  Malachi has really befriended one of the volunteers, Kyle.  Kyle has been very good at teaching Malachi and helping him with his healthy fear.  We’d love to be able to go watch Kyle compete in the upcoming Atlanta Skate Competition but doubt we will be in the area.  Josiah can’t skateboard because of his leg but he’s modifying it so he can have some fun while it’s still healing.  He’s so resourceful.  As for Randy … I think boys will always be boys … they just outgrow their toys and move on to bigger ones.  (His knees were a little sore after trying to ride this bike!)

Flat Rock Park

The wonderful camp hosts (Tony & Tricia) at Lake Pines introduced our family to a beautiful park called Flat Rock here in Columbus. Their three girls (the twins share Randy's Bday) & Tony did a bike race there and the Wendt guys got to go along, watch and cheer. We then went back as a family and rode bikes. We rode the trails and all but I personally enjoyed the black top around the park. It’s one-way and full of trees, hills and curves. Malachi and I had to walk a couple of the hills. Randy & Josiah are such dare devils. We then spent some wonderful time playing in the water with the dogs. The boys loved riding the water chutes. They thought God's water slides were as much fun or maybe even better than the man made water slides. Such a nice place to hang out and bond as a family and spend some quality time.
